It is better the barbell bench press because it puts the tension in the pec muscles. Where as the barbell press is more of a restrictive movement & some of the tension can go to the rotator cuff and tendons. Remember to keep the feet, buns, & shoulder blades on the floor and bench while arching the lower back about 3-5 inches off the bench. Go slow with a 3-1-3 tempo and focus on squeezing water out of a sponge mentality as you are driving the bells slowly to the top. As you bring the bells down, slightly face the palms toward each other as this will kick the elbows into the body slightly. At the bottom make sure to keep the bells 2-4 inches away from the chest to keep constant tension on the pecs. Ever since my pectoral injury, I've felt pretty weak. It took me 2-3 months to heal from the injury and another 2-3 months to get back to where I left off. I'm almost at the point right before my injury. Here is a video of my DB press progress. A major improvement since the first video I posted. 100 Pounds x 5 105 Pounds x 3 110 Pounds x 1 I need to remember to keep the DB tight.

How to Do Incline Dumbbell Bench Press - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. Hi, I'm Linda with Fitness 19. I'm going to be showing you the Incline Chest press with Dumbbells. You're going to lay back on the bench which is there at a 15-30 degree angle. Your arms are down by your side. You're going to be taking you arms straight up toward the Dumbbells almost touched. You want to keep the resistance on the Dumbbells. Take your arm all the way down. Anytime you're working out, you want to try to deal atleast 2 sets of 12 repetitions. You'll bring them all the way up, take them all the way down. You're working in the muscles of upper chest, you're working your triceps and your shoulders. There are variations to this exercise, I'll show you one more. The other you can do is to take it up, and you turn it in. It just hits the shoulders, the upper chest at a different angle. And that's how you do the inclined chest press.

Pec Exercise: Incline Dumbbell Press

This variation of the basic dumbbell press is a great mass builder also, just another twist to keep your muscles guessing. If you dont have an incline bench you can make one by securely tying a 2x8 to a coffeetable as I have done here. This exercise is best done with a spotter. If you are working out alone, use lighter weight and higer reps for safety. As withany dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don't use too much weight, if you can't do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud "one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand" on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. Dumbbell Bow and Arrow Bench Press Exercise


**FREE STUFF** www.synergy-athletics.com "Bow and arrow presses" (the term I use in the Bull Strength Manual ), is a killer secondary exercise for an upper body muscle building workout. The term "bow and arrow" (I'm sure there are other phrases) is used to describe holding one arm fixed while drawing the other arm back. This requires a great deal of stabilization through the core and targeted muscle group. bow-and-arrow Here's why it works: 1. Increased Stabilization 2. Addition of a rare unilateral UPPER body exercise. 3. Increase Time Under Tension* *Now I'm not referring to the time under tension program that was popularized by Charles Poliquin. I'm simply referring to the duration of muscle activation during a set. For example, perform a set of 8 reps of normal dumbbell flat bench press and time yourself. Next, perform it "bow and arrow style" below and time it (video below). Which set had your muscles firing longer? Time under tension (or TUT) can be used effectively in a training program and should be one of many added considerations when developing your programs.
