Buttocks workout routine: glute bridge - lying hamstring rises with feet shoulder width apart


This exercise targets: glutes and hamstrings For this exercise, you will need: an exercise mat and a stepper or something elevated Lie on your back with your knees forming a 90 degree angle. Your feet should be placed on a stepper and be shoulder width apart. Your arms are by your sides with the palms facing down. Push through your heels and lift your glutes off the floor. Keep your back straight and your glutes tight. Your knees, hips, and shoulders should form a straight line. Pause in that position for a second, with your glutes tight. Repeat this exercise the recommended amount of repetitions. Tips: When raising your hips off the floor, keep your glutes tight. When raising your hips off the floor, your knees, hips, and shoulders should form a straight line. Make sure you do not hyper-extend your back. You can perform this exercise without a stepper. If you are doing this, lift your toes off the ground when you raise your hips. Exhale as you lift your hips off the floor and inhale as you return to the starting position. Advanced: Put one leg over your opposite knee to add more resistance to your working side. After doing set of repetitions, change legs. Beginners: 10 repetitions Intermediate level: 15 repetitions Advanced level: 20 repetitions

Sports Massage Demo 3: Hamstrings & Glutes. Sciatica, Leg Muscle Pain Relief Austin In this video series, sports massage therapist, Ron Vaughn, explains more about muscles in the legs and why loosening those muscles (specifically the quads, hamstrings, glutes and related muscles) is important to improve performance and to ensure safe exercise with limited injury. The series looks at the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and other muscles surrounding the knee, thighs, butt and hips. This video specifically examines hamstrings and glutes and includes a great foam roller technique for loosening those muscles yourself. He also addresses sciatica and pain in the sciatic nerve. Kate talks about why she turned to Ron for help with her back and leg pain and why she continues to need his support so that she can continue to run marathons and set new records for herself. Ron's knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, health & fitness and his experience in athletic training, sports & recreation give him a unique style of sports massage. In terms of muscle tissue, the glutes are the largest muscle group in the body. So why do so many athletes and regular lifters have really weak glutes? The Major Problems: 1. Few people do direct glute training. Even though the glutes are activated should be activated in exercises like dead lifts and proper squats, most people would rather do direct arm training (small muscle groups) than direct glute training (large muscle group). 2. When the glutes start to weaken, compensation will occur. Athletes will start using their hamstrings and low backs instead of activating their glutes. So even when someone thinks they are training the glutes, they could be using surrounding muscle groups instead. 3. Most people do not have a large selection of glute exercises so they just ignore it. 4. Can't see it in a mirror, so why train it?? Okay, I might be kidding with that last problem (hopefully). Why Should You Care? 1. Correcting imbalances in the posterior chain can help prevent/alleviate back pain. 2. Glute weakness has been associated with knee pain (over compensation in the hamstrings). 3. Training large muscle groups can increase testosterone. Testosterone helps build muscle. Glutes are the largest muscle group...therefore train it! (felt like I was doing a math logic problem right there). 4. Everyone chases "explosive hips" for athletes through jumping, oly lifts, etc. Glutes play a large role in explosion and achieving triple extension.
