Detoxification - a Path to Health on a Fruitarian Diet

Detoxification or detox is the process of removal of toxic substances from a living organism, and additionally can refer to the period of withdrawal during which an organism returns to homeostasis after long-term use of an addictive substance. Detoxification can occur in many different forms including but not limited to acne breakouts, low energy, headaches, cold sores, mouth sores, diarrhea, high fever, all sorts of temporary skin rashes, coated tongue, mucus discharge through the nose, mouth or eyes, irritability, cold symptoms, etc. Detoxification sometimes manifests as an autointoxication, caused by poisoning one's body with internally released toxins as a result of insufficient food intake. In this case the body is breaking down massive amounts of body fat for fuel and therefore toxins stored in the fat are being released too quickly. You can't eat a diet that is "too clean" -- this is a myth. But you can undereat and therefore start experiencing constant "detox" symptoms and low energy. If you are convinced that you need to detoxify, go on a fast under a proper supervision, otherwise -- eat enough to support your lifestyle and goals. Try not to sabotage your detoxification attempts by going back to foods that you are trying to detoxify from. When you make a big change in your diet -- expect some adverse reactions, stick with it, and have faith from other people's experiences that it will get better.

These are a couple of items on my list of 10 foods NOT to eat if you are following a vegetarian weight loss diet. The first thing is something that many people like to have in the morning and that is a protein shake. They look very healthy, but what is interesting about these is they have too much sugar per serving. There are usually 2 servings in each bottle, so you are eating way too much sugar. Read the labels for these. Another product I've found is a protein shake with greens. Although I love greens, this shake is loaded with sugar. The greens are great, but I dont like them in this form of a protein drink. Protein or breakfast bars are next and tend to be loaded with sugars. They need to add binders and extra sugars to them for taste and that translates into more sugar. For example, a Kashi bar does have a good amount of protein, however, the sugar count is higher than the protein count. You need to read the labels on these. Next is whole wheat bread. All bread is made of wheat, but what you want to watch out for is even if it says its whole wheat, it may be just glorified flour. A great test to see if it is whole wheat is to ball up a slice in your hand. If it holds the ball, that is a great indicator that it is not whole wheat. Former US President Bill Clinton recently confirmed that he is indeed eating a mainly vegan diet. In the interview, the former president explains the reason behind his decision to go vegan. "I'm trying to be one of those experimenters," said Clinton. "Since 1986, several hundred people who have tried essentially a plant-based diet, not ingesting any cholesterol from any source, has seen their bodies start to heal themselves — break up the arterial blockage, break up the calcium deposits around the heart. 82 percent of the people who have done this have had this result, so I want to see if I can be one of them." Clinton decided to adopt the diet in the early part of May 2010. While he does occasionally eat fish, the former president otherwise follows a strict vegan diet. What made him go vegan? This summer armed government agents raided Rawesome Foods, a Venice, California health food co-op. What were the agents after? Unpasteurized milk, it turns out. Raw milk raids are happening all over the United States. The Food and Drug Administration warns that raw milk consumption can cause health problems, but a growing community of raw foods enthusiasts are ignoring government recommendations and claiming that they are getting tastier, more nutritious food by going raw. Reason.tv visited Rawesome to examine the circumstances of the raid and discovered that this particular raw foods case stretches across county lines and involves at least five separate government agencies, despite the fact that not a single member of Rawesome has complained or been harmed by the raw foods. In fact, members have to sign a contract stating that they understand and accept the risks of consuming raw foods before they are allowed to step inside. If members of a private club sign a waiver stating that they want to drink a certain type of milk, why is the government getting involved?
